In just a few days, the automation sector will meet at the 39th Motek international trade fair for automation in production and assembly and the 14th Bondexpo international trade fair for bonding technology – live in Stuttgart. For the first time, digitalisation in manufacturing and assembly will be provided with its own platform, namely the “Arena of Integration” in hall 1, which will become the vital centrepiece of Motek/Bondexpo from the 5th through the 8th of October, 2021.
Digitalisation is in focus everywhere. Based on examples in the sales process for customer-specific assembly technology, small batch and replacement parts production with 3D printing, series assembly with flexible variants and intralogistics, the exhibits in the Arena of Integration will demonstrate digitalised, networked production processes in an accessible manner. Renowned companies will participate at the Arena of Integration as part of Motek/Bondexpo 2021, and will showcase the digitalisation of various business processes in assembly operations.
Companies Network with Each Other at the Arena of Integration
For example, ThyssenKrupp Automation Engineering will present an exhibit which provides an overview of the functionality of a manufacturing execution system (MES): live demonstrations with MES control of an assembly system and a digital twin of a battery assembly system controlled by the MES. Customer-specific MES demonstrations are planned in order to impart the genuine feel of MES functionality.
Together with CMC Engineers GmbH, Otto Bihler Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG will present the necessary process steps, as well as the mode of operation of a machine for hairpin production. The quoted configuration of a hairpin machine takes place live at one station, and trade fair visitors experience a real-time 3D animation of the configured hairpin machine at another.
At a joint exhibit organised by Campus Schwarzwald, GPS Stuttgart, PrimeKey Labs Aachen and J. Schmalz GmbH, a use case involving software management and secure software updates will be dealt with at one station and encryption, authentication and data integrity by means of digital machine identities at another. Other stations will demonstrate edge gateways as a secure interface to the cloud, and finally a use case involving secure feedback of status data to the manufacturer.
Cinteg, Autodesk, Stratasys and KLIB Knut Lehmann will explore 3D printing for the digitalisation of short-run and replacement parts production at their joint exhibit: covering everything from capturing 3D geometries with a high-speed, dimensionally accurate hand-held scanner, generation of a 3D model by processing the scanned data, ongoing design and expansion within the 3D CAD system, right on up to control of the 3D printers and visualisation of the print.
Another exhibit presented by Rafi illustrates digitalisation in intralogistics: it deals with production control at manual workstations based on the example of a service call system. All of these solutions can be experienced live at the Arena of Integration.
Further Special Areas for 3D Printing and Startups
The “Special Area for 3D Printing” will also be a trade fair highlight. Suppliers of 3D printers for industrial use, material suppliers for 3D printing and job-shops for 3D printed parts and assemblies will gather here to reveal the wide range of new possibilities opened up by 3D printing. The Startup Area in hall 1 extends its invitation in a committed and forward-looking manner as well.
Motek/Bondexpo will be one of the first large technical events after the exhibition-free drought and is being awaited with correspondingly great enthusiasm. The comprehensive hygiene concept adopted by the Stuttgart Exhibition Centre, which has been extensively coordinated with the responsible authorities and implemented on the basis of the generally valid Corona Ordinance of the State of Baden-Württemberg, will provide a safe and suitable setting for the event. www.messe-stuttgart.de/en/visitors/news/hygiene-concept-safe-expo/
