With great expectation, the industry sector is looking forward to the on-site Motek/Bondexpo trade fair in Stuttgart from the 5th to the 8th of October, 2021. The trade fair duo including the Motek international trade fair for automation in production and assembly and the Bondexpo international trade fair for bonding technology is being eagerly awaited by exhibitors and expert visitors alike, in order to re-establish the usual personal exchange and concrete discussion of potential solutions.
“As trade fair promoters, we’re well prepared,” explains Bettina Schall, managing director of P.E. Schall GmbH & Co. KG. “The world of automation in production and assembly will come together next October at Motek/Bondexpo, where the personal, professional exchange of ideas and experience will be resumed.” The exhibitors want to finally get things going again: “The rebooking rates are rising continuously,” reports project manager Mike Döring. “Everyone wants to participate again in on-site trade fairs and the exhibitors are securing their booth locations.” The importance of live trade fairs is stressed, for example, by Michael Blaß, managing director of e-chain systems® at igus GmbH in Cologne, Germany: “Under normal circumstances we would have been represented at 222 trade fairs and congresses around the world in 2020, but in the end we only participated at 26. This demonstrates the significance of live trade fairs for igus. They provide an important opportunity for getting involved in dialogues with customers, especially for visitors who simply want to inform themselves spontaneously.”
Exhibitors and Trade Fair Visitors Look Forward to Personal Exchange
Trade fair visits are characterised not only by technical discussions. Smalltalk, having a cup of coffee together and waving to each other across the aisle are also part of the indispensable bond between business partners at all levels. Fortunately, technical information has been kept up-to-date by means of various digital communications offerings during recent months, for example trade fair portals such as Motek-Virtual and Bondexpo-Virtual. “Motek-Virtual has served as an important building block for informing customers about our more than 120 Motion Plastics news items during times when trade fairs can’t be held as usual,” confirms Michael Blaß. But neither the authentic, real impression of an actual product and its use nor a personal face-to-face conversation can be replaced by the virtual world, and exhibitors and visitors alike are looking forward to experiencing this again.
Maintaining and Optimising Sequences, Enhancing Technology
The corona pandemic has also affected operating sequences and the issue of automation in industrial production. In this respect, the goal for Igus is to keep their operating sequences going and ideally to optimise them. “Without a doubt, automation and digitalisation are playing an even more important role than before and can make an important contribution to achieving this goal,” notes Michael Blaß. For Hendrik Bittenbinder, Head of Digital Business, E-Commerce and Marketing Communication at J. Schmalz GmbH, workpieces now have to be handled faster and faster, as well as ergonomically – whether manually or automatically – in booming industry sectors such as logistics, food and medical technology. Machine downtime and absence due to illness need to be minimised, and distancing rules have to be observed where manual handling takes place. “Ergonomic vacuum lifters and innovative vacuum gripper systems enable safe workpiece handling with short cycle times in compliance with distancing rules. Digital, user-friendly product solutions in the field of automation and robotics, as well as new software and apps, ensure efficiency in production processes,” explains Hendrik Bittenbinder.
Motek/Bondexpo 2021: from Subassemblies to Software
Never before has it been so important to effectively implement automation intelligence for production and assembly at the industrial level. This is why Motek, together with the complementary Bondexpo, is one of the most important technical events in the manufacturing sector for numerous companies from the fields of production and assembly automation, as well as joining and bonding technologies. Across the board, importance is being placed on enhancing technology, increasing efficiency, promoting sustainability and reducing costs. As the leading trade fair for the world of automation, the Motek/Bondexpo trade fair duo will present a suitable spectrum of products and services including components, assemblies, subsystems, complete systems and software for automated production and assembly, combined with joining technology as an essential constituent of industrial manufacturing, in Stuttgart from the 5th through the 8th of October, 2021. The outstanding business community at Motek/Bondexpo advances future-oriented projects in a routined, effective manner by means of an individual exchange of ideas and experience.
