Digital Technologies Can’t Replace Multisensory Experience

Statement of the ZIMMER GROUP on Motek’s Success Story

You’ve been exhibiting at Motek for many years and you’re celebrating 40 years of Zimmer this month: which highlights have you experienced at Motek throughout the years?

The Zimmer Group is a founding member of Motek, so to speak! We’ve been on hand with our booth every year without interruption right from the very start. We’ve already been able to celebrate a number of company anniversaries at Motek. We also would have celebrated our fortieth anniversary this year with a large booth party at the trade fair. In addition to lots of new products like the PowerStop shock absorber and our LKH clamping elements for profiled rail guides, which the Zimmer Group was able to present as a world premiere at Motek in the past, I personally remember the presentation of the world’s first MRK gripper as a highlight. This innovation was distinguished with the 2015 handling award at the event.

What’s your initial experience with Motek-Virtual?

We’re pleased that the Motek can now at least be held virtually. This makes it possible for the Zimmer Group to contact potential customers relatively easily with a virtual exhibition booth. The virtual trade fair platform is clearly structured for visitors, and as exhibitors we can quickly and easily provide customers with all important information with the help of photos, product descriptions, videos etc.

You’re presenting the PowerStop product range as a highlight in your showroom: what’s special about it?

The PowerStop range of industrial shock absorbers, which is already well-known on the market for its high energy absorption in the tightest of installation spaces, has been extensively expanded and significantly optimised under the name PowerStop 2.0. The new range is available as of immediately in four different versions. In particular thanks to the modern modular system, the shock absorbers can be ideally configured for the respective application – from stroke variant, speed range and different protection variants, right on up to the head. This makes it possible to achieve an ideal price-performance ratio using an individualised standard product with best possible availability.

Can we expect further new products and highlights in your showroom?

Yes, in the coming weeks we’ll be presenting additional innovations from almost all of our six fields of technology (handling and damping technology, as well as linear, machine and system technology) such as new sizes for the renowned 5000IL gripper series, an extended product portfolio for the GEP2000 gripper series and our zero-point clamping system in Motek’s virtual showroom.

What are you especially looking forward to at Motek 2021 (if participation is planned)?

Of course we’ll be exhibiting at Motek again in 2021! We’re especially looking forward to presenting our products live again, because if you want to get people emotionally involved, there’s nothing better than an live event. Pleasant conversations, maintaining long-standing customer relationships and the on-site hustle and bustle can’t be simulated nearly as well in a virtual setting. For us it’s also important to let our customers touch our products and try them out, because here as well, digital technologies can’t replace a multisensory experience. We’re looking forward to everything that distinguishes a genuine on-site trade fair.

Will you catch up on celebrating your 40th anniversary at Motek 2021?

Yes, we’ll be taking a rain check. Without a doubt we’ll commemorate our 40th anniversary in an appropriate setting at Motek 2021.
