Robot Image Capture Tool turns the robot into a µs-flash measuring or testing machine

The Robot Image Capture Tool is a novel tool for flexible inspection technology. It turns industrial robots into a universal measuring or inspection machine. The module can be attached to standardised robot arms via a standardised connection plate (ISO 9409-1). It combines all the necessary components for robot-supported image acquisition: a CMOS camera with a high-resolution lens, a high-intensity power LED ring light and a digital lighting controller. The signal connection is made directly to the robot controller (trigger, status, power supply). In addition, only one cable is needed for the image data for the image processing system.

The set-up is very simple: the lighting controller is synchronously triggered via the robot's path control and triggers both the flash lighting and the image acquisition in a time-adjustable manner, without any additional wiring. Thanks to digital control, precise ultra-short flash pulses of down to 1 µs duration are possible. This means that even fast movements can be inspected without blurring. The flash times and camera triggers are freely programmable with 20ns resolution and can be shifted as desired. This makes the time-consuming synchronisation of flashed lighting much simpler and precisely adjustable. The patented lumiSENS® technology ensures long-term stability, repeatability and digital precision. The tool is configured via industrial WLAN.

The four 90° sectors of the LED ring light can be controlled from within the Capture Tool in any order and combination, making it possible to illuminate even difficult test objects or 3D illumination scenarios.
The Robot Image Capture Tool is available immediately. Extensive customisation of the individual components allows the performance of the robot tool to be varied within wide limits.
