The processes become even more efficient

Personal exchange for all areas of human communication and interaction with each other is immensely important. This is the opinion of Ulrich Moser, Head of Marketing & Sales Controlling at IEF Werner GmbH in Furtwangen. Everyone involved is looking forward to Motek/Bondexpo in October 2021 as a presence trade show. After all, the industry has a lot to show, because flexible, modular manufacturing systems, by means of which an increasing variance of increasingly short-lived goods is produced, depend on efficient automation of assembly and handling technology.

How will assembly and handling technology, as the heart of traditional industrial production, change in the coming years?

In the future, assembly and handling technology will continue to maintain – if not expand – its central position in industrial production. Flexible, modular manufacturing systems, by means of which an increasing variance of increasingly short-lived goods is produced, depend on efficient automation of assembly and handling technology.

What technological developments need to be driven forward for this?

Resource-efficient technologies that do their part to reduce the carbon footprint of each product. To this end, it is equally necessary to find a balance between efficiency and flexibility – in other words, to design the system in a customized manner.

With the development of lightweight robotics, the world of production has taken on a new face. Which development particularly impresses you personally?

The convergence of IT and production issues towards knowledge- and information-based production optimization enables all parties involved to make their processes even more efficient.

In your view, to what extent has the pandemic situation changed industrial processes and everyday production? Will these be sustainable changes and outlast the crisis?

With the help of advancing digitization and corresponding IT infrastructures, many production-related processes could be handled decentrally (for example, in the home office) during the pandemic. In many cases, however, it has also become apparent that collaboration with a view to the actual plants and their components is essential for a focused discussion.

Which measures or methods do you consider to be particularly effective in moving closer to climate-neutral production?

As already described, different contributions can be made to this along the entire value chain, both in the design of the plants, their production and their use. Efficiency-oriented optimization can play a major role here, especially in operations.

Automation intelligence for production and assembly – You know Motek/Bondexpo as the outstanding, traditional B-to-B marketplace for the industrial automation industry. How important do you consider a face-to-face event in fall 2021 for exhibitors and trade visitors?

Provided the general pandemic situation allows it again, personal exchange is immensely important for all areas of human communication and interaction with each other. This applies not only to personal, but also to professional (B2B) everyday life.
